Battle of Celebrity Perfumes

Celebrity fragrances are nothing new but the past few years have seen actors, singers and even reality stars releasing their own signature scents on a new scale. It’s part of the wider trend that has seen celebrities become more aware of their brand value, not just in selling music or films, but also by licensing their names into clothing, beverages and other merchandising opportunities. And with so many celebrities being recruited by designer perfume houses to model in their fragrance campaigns, it seems a logical next step for the celebs to release scents under their own names. Much like investing in a designer fragrance, choosing to purchase a celebrity-endorsed scent is buying in to more than just the small bottle of perfume for your money. It’s about buying a piece of ‘the dream’; the perceived lifestyle that comes with wearing celebrity endorsed perfumes. Much of this dream is conveyed by the packaging of the product. Gwen Stefani’s ‘Harajuku Lovers’ series of scents come in bottles topped with cartoonish collectable figures reflecting the singer’s Japanese pop culture inspiration, while J.Lo’s ‘Glow’ bottle sports a blinged-out logo necklace, bound to resonate with her aspirant tweenage fans. There really is something for everyone in the celebrity perfume category. Reb'l Fleur by Rihanna and Kim Kardashian are two new perfumes recently launched under the celeb perfume category. Vanessa Hudgens looked pretty in pink last night as she arrived in NYC for an appearance on David Letterman. Braving the cold, Vanessa layered a coat over her hot pink Zac Posen dress. She went for a Burlesque-inspired look on bottom, pairing Stella McCartney nude strappy heels with Hue fishnets.

Jennifer Lopez in Gucci dress

Jennifer Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony were at the London in West Hollywood to promote the launch of their lifestyle brand for Kohl's Department Stores. The collaboration marks an industry first with this being the first ceelbrity couple to simultaneously design collections for a single retailer. Jennifer's collection will include sportswear, dresses, handbags, jewelry, shoes and sleepwear. Marc's will have sportswear, dress shirts, neckwear, accessories, suit separates, sport coats and shoes. Jennifer looks amazing in her Gucci dress and python Gucci sandals.

Beyonce shows off her super short Naeem Khan dress. She looks amazing in this eggplant beaded dress. We love how she shortened the dress about 5 inches from the original version. Beyonce completed her look with Christian Louboutin Ambertina bejeweled sandals and dazzling jewels.
